The importance of exercise in our daily lives, in order to fulfill the "Good health and well-being" sustainable development goal.
The SDGs that were set back in 2015 need to have a strong structure and a massive communication if the real idea is to change all these issues that have been precluding humanity to grow and succeed. I will talk in deep about the third goal, that is named "good health and well-being" and I will emphasize in a simple thing and basic thing, exercise. If people start to include different types of trainings in their daily routines, they will be able to see how their health improves and how they are able to set goals throughout discipline.
First, good health is an aspect that is very wide, it includes not only exercise but also a balance nutrition and adequate rest. All these things are important enough to be able to have a great quality of life. However, exercise is the aspect that most of the people skip. I think that the main reason is lack of discipline, or time. It is important to let people know how important is exercise for the body is, for example improving mental health and mood due to some chemicals that the body release when doing physical effort. It also helps to avoid depression or deal with stress that may appear because of daily life problems.
If we want to understand much more about the impact of exercise for good living we can see the main advantanges, Physical activity or exercise can improve your health and reduce the risk of developing several diseases like type 2 diabetes, cancer and cardiovascular disease. Physical activity and exercise can have immediate and long-term health benefits. Most importantly, regular activity can improve your quality of life. A minimum of 30 minutes a day can allow you to enjoy these benefits." (Betterhealth, n.a). It catches my attention that with only 30 minutes you can have all this advantages for your body and for your personal living, and many of us are used to waste more than 45 minutes watching TV series that are not giving us enough benefits or things to learn, or for example, 1 hour chatting with friends via Whatsapp and all these activities that are not as good as work out.
In my personal case, before I started to realize that having a good health was important and that it did not matter if I was still very young, I saw exercise as an activity for very superficial people, I mean, people that only wants to maintain their figure and no more, and that seemed to want beauty as their main goal in life. Then I understood that if I built this kind of habits, I will be able to have a great life not only nowadays but also in my future, I was thinking in something long term because I do not want to be an elder who cannot depend on himself and I know that exercise and balance nutrition will help me to achieve that goal.
In conclusion, I
think that to try to reach and improve numbers regarding the "good health
and well-being" development goal it is necessary to encourage people to do
exercise. The reason for doing this is simple, as I mentioned above, exercise
is not only for you to look good but also to maintain all your body in a
physical level that allows you to be able of run 10 kilometers, to climb a
mountain or be able to walk after passing the 80s.
