Mental health, another important topic that many people do not take seriously.
In these difficult times that we are all passing through, it is essential to encounter
different type of supports, and mental health is one of the most important
ones. It is not only because of COVID-19, although it is a great factor, the
recent protests and the political situation that the country is living have impacted the lives of not only those who are manifesting, but also the
ones that are consuming all the digital content (murders, fights, etc). Here is
when the head starts struggle, and for example, I know that many people are not
able to give their best at university while all these people is suffering.
This issue could be managed in a great way
if you start to have, first, help from someone. I truly believe that the
solution is to feel company, if you have someone there for you, to listen your
doubts, queries and thoughts, it is half done. "There’s nothing better
than catching up with someone face to face, but that’s not always possible. You
can also give them a call, drop them a note, or chat to them online instead.
Keep the lines of communication open: it’s good for you!" (Mentalhealth).
I was impressed of how well our university was managing this situation, the support that students received was awesome, and the opportunity to talk about the situation without having judgements was also a great thing to highlight. The situation is different for all the students, I heard about some people that was supporting and helping with all the logistics of these protests, but I also head about people that do not feel identify with these claims. However, I want to say that this political environment that we are living in our country has bring different problems that in my opinion can be solved if you eat well,ask for help, talk to different friends and try to be distracted, that is the reason why I am not in favor of stopping classes because it is a way of distraction and you can give your best if you are 100% focused.
To conclude, I think that the importance of mental health is relevant when looking for quality of life, and much more now with these situations that we are living, the confinement has been a tough moment to manage. I also believe that because of all these different factors, people started to realize that mental health is an aspect that needs to be treated, as there are many people with many problems regarding this.
