One Medicine one health as a way of living.

   

    The pandemic we are passing through should not only give us strength to overcome difficult situations but also learnings with a specific aim, quality of life. The concept that gives us One Medicine one health is a very interesting one, that although it exists before the COVID-19, it could have a better development now that the world is passing through a very tough situation in all the different aspects that include education, health, politics and economy.

    One Medicine one health basically is an approach that tries to connect the health of people with the one of animals and environment, in a shared environment. This idea has been becoming much more important these recent years, and after the virus that we are currently suffering it will be popular enough to have a stronger voice among different communities.



    Having a close connection mainly with animals and environment is important because human life definitely depends on these two. Animals are related either for companionship, food, sports or clothing, and we have a lot of people (including me) that do not pay attention or think that animals are such a basic living thing that does not influence our daily lives. It is important to highlight that one of the main purposes of this approach is to have a balance enough manpower capable to sustain the three sides (animals, nature, and humans).



    In my opinion, this systemic approach became a very important element in my way of living, this means that I started to understand the importance of all the living things that I had around me. At the beginning, I did not like animals and my connection with nature was very poor. I was a person that was very linked to the city, and I did not had relationship with mountains, rivers. In this moment, one of my favorites things to do at weekends is have contact with nature since I live in a very urban part full of buildings, malls, noise, etc. After going in depth with this thinking, my way of living changed in a substantial way, and this change helped a lot to develop different new strengths such as patience and tranquility. Before speaking or doing something, I think a lot about the consequences that the action or words that I will say will influence in a positive or negative way the people, animals or environment around.
